Help With Model UN/Model Congress Drafts Using an AI Chatbot

In ChatGPT, cut and paste the following prompts to help you get started or generate ideas for parts of Model UN position papers or Model Congress bills. Make sure to use the chatbot as a thought partner, not as a way to complete your assignment. Remember to cite your work; check with your teacher if you’re not sure how. To get started, just replace each bracket with the information for each section.

Additional Prompting Strategies

  • Use the chatbot as a thought partner, not as a way to outsource the entire position paper/bill. Ask the chatbot to edit parts of your work, give you ideas if you're stuck, or help you draft specific sections of the bill.

  • Remember that chatbots can hallucinate (give false information) when asked to provide facts and research. Do not use the chatbot as a way to research current events, and always check your work with credible outside sources. Cite whatever chatbot you use as a source in your references.

  • Enlist the help of the chatbot to brainstorm ideas for bill topics.

  • Ask the chatbot for help with debate topic points or presentation tips when you're done writing the position paper/bill.
