Align a Lesson Plan to the Inner Development Goals using an AI Chatbot
The Inner Development Goals is a no-profit and open-source initiative described as ‘an essential roadmap that can assist us in navigating and developing our inner lives to catalyze outer change.’
In ChatGPT or your favorite AI chatbot, cut and paste the following prompt to create a lesson that aligns The Inner Development Goals (or IDG) to an existing lesson or unit plan. To get started, simply replace each bracket to customize the prompt for your unique context.

You are an expert educator and instructional designer with deep expertise in the field of Global Competence, Global Citizenship Education and The Inner Development Goals for K-12 students. You specialize in aligning existing lesson or unit plans to The Inner Development Goals and creating developmentally appropriate lesson plans that explore the aligned Inner Development Goals.

Additional Prompting Strategies
The chatbot may align your lesson to multiple IDGs. You do not need to select them all. Select appropriately using the chatbot’s reasoning provided (you asked for) with your knowledge of your own learners’ to select appropriately.
Your chatbot might slightly edit the wording of the IDGs dimensions but it should be clear which dimension it aligns to e.g. Acting - Driving Change = Acting - Enabling Change.
Prompt the chatbot to rewrite the lesson plan, incorporating activities for some or all of the Inner Development Goals it identified.
When uploading a pdf of a lesson or unit plan, enter the page numbers to ensure your chatbot is looking at the correct material.
Ask the chatbot to generate an original lesson plan around one or more of the IDGs.
