This week we’re celebrating the remarkable female educators and leaders in our community who are doing the grassroots work happening every day across the globe to advance responsible AI adoption and training in education.

From K-12 teachers thoughtfully introducing AI literacy in their classrooms to nonprofit leaders building sustainable programs for their communities, these women are doing the essential frontline work. Their efforts showcase the quiet yet powerful impact of educators who roll up their sleeves every day, leading responsible AI adoption from the ground up, one classroom, one project, and one student at a time.

CEO @ Black Girl AI | USA

Kee is dedicated to building AI literacy, supporting responsible AI adoption, and creating impactful programs to help underserved communities actively engage with technology. She works diligently to unite these efforts by creating high-quality, evidence-based GenAI tools and resources and promoting responsible AI adoption. Black Girl AI fosters a critical understanding of AI's ethical and social implications, covering issues like bias, data privacy, and the responsible use of AI in society. She is also developing partnerships with other tech organizations to help amplify new efforts and provide students with a network of support and resources to pursue science and tech careers.

Founder @ AI goes to School | Portugal

Marta connects teachers and schools with reference lesson plans that integrate AI and teach with and about AI, created and implemented by teachers in different education levels, to guide or inspire other teachers. Marta builds dialogue space and collaboration with teachers, schools, and students to support AI's effective, responsible, and ethical use in education.

Founder and Lecturer of AI and Digital literacy agency @ Intelektūra | Lithuania

Aurelija is a lecturer at the Artificial Intelligence Agency, an Information Technology and Mathematics teacher, and a participant in the "I Choose to Teach" program. She mentors and consults IT educators, supporting them in creatively integrating technology into their lessons.
Her work focuses on helping teachers and education specialists incorporate Artificial Intelligence and technology into educational activities, fostering innovation in education.

Founder, Mocha Sprout | USA

Dr. Misty D. Freeman offers services that tackle AI bias through education, advocacy, and strategic intervention. Her work specifically empowers Gen Z black girls to become informed participants and changemakers in the tech world while also equipping organizations with the knowledge and resources needed for responsible AI adoption.
By bridging gaps in AI literacy and addressing biases head-on, Dr. Freeman is creating an ecosystem where inclusivity, evidence-based practices, and meaningful societal progress are prioritized, ensuring that AI serves everyone.

Founder of AiDigiTales | USA

At AiDigiTales, Amber and her tean provide free and low-cost edutainment resources and content that introduce kids to AI concepts early, making AI literacy accessible and fun for families. Through resources like their books, the “AI for Kids” podcast, and an upcoming YouTube series, AiDigiTales is dedicated to making AI education engaging and approachable for kids aged 4-12, regardless of their zip code.

Community Engagement, The Modern Classrooms Project | USA

TR is passionate about disrupting traditional teaching and learning by eliminating lectures to create a more active learning experience for learners of all ages through a blended, self-paced, and mastery-based learning environment. TR amplifies the voices of educators who have used AI to create this environment. TR also collaborates with organizations that utilize AI to expose educators to tools they can use. They prioritize learning about bias, environmental impact, and the challenges of AI with educators and school leaders.

Senior Director, The Writing Pathway at Teaching Lab Studio | USA

Sherry Lewkowicz is the Senior Director of the Writing Pathway at Teaching Lab Studio. She brings over 15 years of experience crafting learning opportunities related to writing instruction to her work developing and leading the Pathway project. Sherry and her team have developed the Writing Pathway, a FREE, research-based scope and sequence for teaching writing. It uses AI tools to enable teachers to create practice for students in any subject or curriculum, grades 3-12.
In the nine weeks since its September launch, The Writing Pathway has had 12,000+ unique visitors, 1,500+ visitors (13%) have created accounts, and 879 with accounts have generated content on the platform just this week.

Director of IT Innovation | Germany

Ashley has been an enthusiastic Innovation Director in EdTech for the last 5+ years. She and her team are in the adoption phase of a school-wide AI tool that will allow all members of our school community to engage with AI safely. They are also working to disseminate clear expectations for students in alignment with the IB standards, and the students have been driving the development. We all know that buy-in from the end users (students) is much more impactful.

Researcher | USA

Dr. Sonia Tiwari is a Parasocial Learning Researcher who explores the potential of ethically designed AI characters. She created an ethical AI character design framework and assessment model for EdTech entrepreneurs and children's media producers - to support the design of child-safe smart speakers, animated chatbots, intelligent toys, digital pets, and other emerging AI characters.

Associate Vice President of AI + Strategy | USA

Amber is a founding builder of MSA's Responsible AI in Learning (RAIL), a framework for endorsing AI Literacy, Safety, and Ethics designed to support schools’ stay safe and ahead. Through RAIL, Amber works with 60+ schools globally, and the impact is directly on 50,000+ students worldwide. The MSA principle is human-led, AI-informed. Amber and her team underscore this point in a rapidly changing world that requires leaders' thought partnership to do so skillfully, responsibly, and effectively.

Chief Program Officer @ AI for Education | USA

A former high school English teacher, school principal, and edtech executive, Corey partners with diverse stakeholders across the education sector to build AI literacy and drive responsible AI adoption in schools. She works with leaders to develop strategic initiatives that bring student, family, and educator voices into the development of AI guidelines and implementation plans, ensuring they authentically support teaching and learning. Her collaborative approach to AI integration empowers communities to shape how these tools serve their unique needs, while building crucial AI literacy for the future. Corey's innovative and collaborative mindset consistently generates fresh approaches to complex educational challenges in this rapidly evolving landscape.

Danelle is at the forefront of “leading from the middle,” fostering dynamic, inquiry-based conversations with teachers to drive meaningful instructional change. She strengthens the leadership pipeline by embedding AI as a supportive tool in these efforts. She ensures that teachers have a voice at the table, are seen as role models, and are supported in adapting to evolving instructional models. Her commitment to equity and excellence shines through in her work, particularly in supporting English language learners and students with special needs, and she continues to make a global impact by inspiring innovative, student-centered educational practices.

Pam is passionate about increasing equity in engaging learning programs. After time in the classroom, she's had a variety of experiences in the education sector. She's worked for edtech companies, UN agencies, and other education non-profits globally. She holds an Ed.M in international education policy, and lives in San Francisco with her family.

Curriculum & Content Developer @ AI for Education | USA

A former teacher, media specialist, and technology coach, Mandy believes that digital literacy is crucial to thriving in the modern world. As a content and curriculum developer at AI for Education, she develops practical resources to teach educational leaders, teachers, students, and caregivers the basics of AI literacy. Her goal is to help shape a vision of AI adoption that is informed, balanced, responsible, and safe, ensuring a positive and impactful experience for all.

Founder of LXD Research | USA

Dr. Rachel Schechter founded Learning Experience Design (LXD) Research and an Edtech Trendsetter Award honoree for her contributions to the edtech industry. Rachel leads a team at LXD Research focused on documenting and creating evidence for using AI to support student learning. She leads multiple studies that include AI components and helps educators understand what is working and for which students.

Founder, Generation Remix | USA

Tiffany recently started Generation Remix to build a pipeline of young leaders who leverage their experience growing up in the digital world and dealing with its challenges to increase digital literacy and well-being for the next generation. She and her team piloted three models of leadership development programs to train middle and high school-age students as digital safety and wellbeing ambassadors. In collaboration with Data Girl and Friends and Internet Safe Kids Africa, they have also launched a youth leadership challenge that empowers older students with the knowledge and resources to teach at least five younger children how to stay safe and healthy in the era of AI.

Regional Director @ One World Network of Schools | Mexico

Paola developed an AI tool to support her organization's teachers and leaders in low- and middle-income countries. One World has piloted the AI tool to support teachers and leaders in Mexico, Uruguay, South Africa, and India with the core activity of lesson planning. The AI tool leverages ChatGPT and draws from a practice base used to support teachers, coaches, leaders, and content creators and helps teachers refine objectives and create exit tickets and lesson plans that are contextualized for their own country and local curriculum.

Investor @ Rethink Education | USA

Monique is building AI literacy and supporting responsible AI adoption by launching an AI x Education bi-monthly virtual series. In this series, she and her team bring together a diverse group of AI experts, educators, and startup leaders to discuss the importance of building responsible AI in education. The sessions provide a platform for thought-provoking conversations on best practices, ethical considerations, and evidence-based approaches to creating impactful GenAI tools.

Founder @ Coding and More | India

Supriya the founder of Coding and More, an all women run AI educational company for K-12 students and educators. Coding and More believes in Responsible AI for All and all our endeavors are to build awareness and literacy towards the same. Their activities include online live classes on AI, monthly AI newsletter for K-12, monthly online live to promote AI literacy. We have hosted a number of GirlsInAI online hackathons and have an YouTube channel to showcase our students work and to inspire others to learn.

Project Coordinator - Education Innovation @ Escuela21 | Spain

Vanessa is a bilingual educator and advocate for educational equity focused on the ethical integration of AI in schools. As part of Escuela21, she supports teachers in creating inclusive, plurilingual, pluricultural classrooms. During her time in Finland, she studied trust-based education systems and advanced teacher preparation with a focus on linguistically and culturally sensitive teaching, which influenced her vision of the role of AI in education.

Staff SW Machine Learning Engineer | USA

Lakshmithejaswi is a machine learning engineer specializing in technical and strategic leadership roles, and she has fostered a data-driven organizational culture throughout her career. Lakshmithejaswi’s recent research is based on fraud detection on incremental machine learning systems. She participates in NIST AIRA ( NIST’s new Assessing Risks and Impacts of AI ) program workshops. Through these workshops, she intends to learn and share knowledge to tackle key characteristics of AI trustworthiness and other AI-related topics.

Director, Literacy @ Student Achievement Partners | USA

Carey is a former teacher, coach, school leader and learning specialist with more than twenty years of experience in education. Currently a Director at Student Achievement Partners with a focus on literacy, Carey works to connect research and pedagogy with equitable, high-quality literacy practices. She supports projects that center teacher professional learning, and works to ensure that the products, resources, and people who support instruction are doing so in ways that are designed from evidence, affirming of students, and ensure access to grade-level content.

Michel supports programming at the ASU+GSV AI Show, a free gathering that brings together the education community to learn about AI's role in EdTech, teaching, and learning. ASU+GSV AI Show’s north star is bringing together diverse voices in education to create a supportive ecosystem for AI innovation

Educational Technology Specialist, Washington Township Public Schools | USA

One of Kathi’s favorite projects has been creating and sharing "10 Brilliant AI Timesavers for Busy School Administrators" at state and national EdTech conferences, and for the administrators in her  school district.
She has also taken the lead on building her district’s AI website (a go-to resource for educators), enjoys running hands-on AI workshops for her elementary school EdTech leaders, and
helped develop her district's AI policy. Kathi also serves as an EdTech chairperson for the new New Jersey Education and Technology Association (NJETA).

Technology Integrator at The Allen-Stevenson School | USA

Ainsley is actively working to build AI literacy among my 2nd-grade students by integrating SchoolAI into our Social Studies curriculum. Through a chatbot experience, her students engage in conversations with a Lenape child to explore the culture, food, and lifestyle of the Lenape people who once lived in Manahtta. The AI-driven interaction deepens their understanding, allowing them to create digital social studies books that capture the Lenape's rich heritage.

Amy is the Director of Educational Technology at Poway Unified School District, where she spearheads initiatives to advance future-ready educational practices through technology that enhances student learning. She is dedicated to empowering educators as they navigate the evolving landscape of modern learning. An accomplished educator, Amy has expertise in curriculum design, instructional strategies, and educational technology across diverse learning environments.

Head of GenAI Studio, College Board | USA

Sophia Romee is an entrepreneurial leader who directs product strategy and brings expertise across the education sector, nonprofits, and the ‘future of work.’ Sophia founded the GenAI Studio, a new incubator at the College Board, to accelerate learning and responsible use of AI. She leads a cross-functional team of strategists, technologists, and researchers—in partnership with educators and AI experts—to bring AI literacy and innovations to classrooms and solve education’s most pressing problems.

Becky has been guiding best practices for GenAI integration in schools and systems worldwide for the past two years by using her voice to redefine the use of AI for education transformation. Through authoring self-paced learning courses, creating training materials for a worldwide scale, publishing articles, speaking engagements and podcasts, and beyond, Becky has helped thousands of educators see the power of prompting past the basics. She recently published her first course as a LinkedIn Learning instructor, designed for educators and faculty to see how to use Microsoft Copilot in ways that start small and end impactfully.

Angela supports startup founders and technical leaders in building intuitive, AI-first, and AI-embedded products that are directly used by students from elementary through college. Beyond launching features, she and her team provide user guides, webinars, and Q&A sessions to help young students become comfortable with AI tools. Angela’s approach emphasizes guiding students with the next steps and thought processes rather than providing direct answers, fostering healthy habits in AI use.

Michelle Culver is the Founder of the Rithm Project, which stokes conversation and action to rethread human connection in the age of AI. She has led at the forefront of human flourishing for over two decades, working at the intersection of equity and innovation. The Rithm Project empowers young people to rebuild and evolve human connections in an age of AI. They do this in three interrelated ways:

Director of Strategy @ Assessment for Good | USA

Ramya serves as the Director of Strategy for Assessment for Good. She has over ten years of experience in the nonprofit and education sectors, spanning roles in product development, research, policy, and organizational strategy. At Assessment for Good, Ramya and her team design tools explicitly for Black and Latinx students. The current models don't represent communities of students, and more generally, AI tools are built in an extractive way. They are building AI-powered assessment tools with and for Black and Latinx students that authentically reflect their strengths.

Jenny focuses on teaching educators and women how to leverage Generative AI to boost their productivity, always with an approach centered on people, responsibility, and human skills. Her mission is to empower more people to use AI as a driver for growth without losing sight of the importance of human skills and oversight. Jenny firmly believes in striking a balance that combines technological efficiency with human creativity and judgment.

Instructional Leadership Coach @ Boston College | USA

Susan provides strategic guidance on implementing AI responsibly and ethically in educational settings and harnessing the potential of AI to enhance teaching and learning. Her work focuses on preparing the next generation of leaders to navigate the evolving digital landscape, cultivating the human skills needed to complement intelligent systems. At Boston College, Susan designs innovative professional development programs integrating AI-powered tools, empowering educators to enhance instructional practices and promote personalized learning.

Director of Education & Research @ Encode Justice’s Oregon Chapter USA

Director of Education & Research Julianne Huang recently created an AI implementation in education framework, which was named one of eight honorable mentions out of hundreds of submissions for Civic Unplugged’s Fall Fellow Solvathon. In the last two years, Encode Justice’s Oregon Chapter has spoken at events for community members and teachers, educating more than 500 people on AI ethics, literacy, and adoption. The chapter is excited to continue improving AI literacy in our community and looks forward to hosting workshops in 2025.
