This week we’re celebrating the remarkable female educators and leaders in our community who are doing the grassroots work happening every day across the globe to advance responsible AI adoption and training in education.

From K-12 teachers thoughtfully introducing AI literacy in their classrooms to nonprofit leaders building sustainable programs for their communities, these women are doing the essential frontline work. Their efforts showcase the quiet yet powerful impact of educators who roll up their sleeves every day, leading responsible AI adoption from the ground up, one classroom, one project, and one student at a time.

K-12

Teacher @ Union School | Haiti

Anne developed AI policies for her school emphasizing ethical use and data privacy. She also conducts workshops for parents and teachers to explain AI’s educational role. She also shows students and teachers how to use AI tools to enhance learning. She shows teachers and administrators how to incorporate AI concepts into the curriculum to deepen understanding, helping students learn foundational skills and think critically. She also demonstrated to educators how to utilize AI tools that align with educational goals and school improvement plan.

K12 Instructional Technology Coach @ Muhlenberg School District | USA

Samantha works in her district to responsibly & ethically adopt GenAI as a thought partner & assistant. She provides interactive professional development for all staff, supporting one-on-one teachers for their specific needs, & working with outside organizations to stay current on best practices for empowerment & enhancing instruction. Samantha is passionate about facilitating interactive professional development in her district, Berks County, & PA state conferences for Best Practices in AI & Educational Technology.

Freelance PD Trainer and Content Developer | Turkey

Based on her EdTech background and as a Middle School science and math teacher, Gamze has temporarily stepped back from classroom teaching to focus on enhancing AI literacy among educators in Turkiye. Her mission is to develop and provide teacher training sessions and freely accessible content that addresses the gap in AI educational resources available in Turkish. While materials are abundant in English, Turkish-speaking teachers often face limited options, and Gamze’s goal is to enrich their resources with comprehensive content in their native language.

District Instructional Lead @ Prairie Rose Public Schools; EdTech Consultant @ Logics Academy | Canada

Cammie led her Alberta school district to be one of the first in the province to provide AI PD training opportunities for staff. This led to mini-videos to help teachers learn simple strategies or activities to teach their students “About AI.” She is an AI presentation lead for Canada’s Logics Academy, having led presentations on general AI, CoPilot, Gemini, and AI and assessment. She recently participated as an “AI coach” for a district in Dell Canada’s C21 AI use-case research project.
Cammie is an “ambassador” for several educational AI companies to stay current. Cammie continues to blog, record videos, and host webinars to provide AI content to help teachers in her district and beyond learn “About AI.”

Choices High School @ Canton City School District | USA

Stefany Palombais is an AI education educator enthusiast dedicated to empowering teachers with the skills to personalize their classrooms through AI. With experience presenting at NSTA, leading online PD sessions, and training teachers across Ohio, Stefany helps educators integrate tools like Brisk, Diffit, Magicschool AI, and School AI to create engaging, student-centered learning environments.

Kaleidoskape Education Consultancy | Canada

Carla integrates AI tools that enhance learning outcomes while fostering student engagement and skill development, helping students and teachers become comfortable with AI-driven learning. Carla also provides educators with practical guidance on responsible AI use, focusing on accuracy, transparency, and privacy. She works closely with EdTech companies to develop high-quality, evidence-based AI solutions tailored to educational settings. By advocating for responsible design and effective implementation, she helps ensure AI solutions in education are impactful and grounded in best practices.

Teacher @ AE de Barcelos | Portugal

Cláudia has published an ebook about AI in Primary School, created a case study, and implemented an AI curricular unit to develop the AI literacy of primary school students, with very positive results. She is also the author of the "EcoKids teach AI" project, where students learn about separating waste for recycling and then train AI to do the same.

Emerging Technologies Consultant | USA

Vera leads North Carolina's AI implementation steering committee, which published the NC Generative AI Implementation Recommendations and Considerations for PK-13 Schools, a comprehensive guidebook for education leaders. She also leads the NC AI Collaboratives and is the project manager for NC AI Summits to help guide district leaders and educators through policy development, responsible AI implementation, and robust AI Literacy planning. She is honored to serve on the Southern Regional Education Board's Commission on Artificial Intelligence in Education.

K-6 Computer Science @ Knox Gifted Academy | USA

Tara has advocated for and coordinated an AI Tool Pilot for 20 teachers across two school sites. She has led two K-12 district PDs related to AI Literacy and the effective use of AI teacher tools, with more in store for 2025. Tara joined her district's AI Advisory Board for elementary-level educators and students. She leads a schoolwide monthly PLC where teachers meet to discuss responsible and effective AI Adoption, create AI tools that will benefit the entire staff, and promote collaboration to maximize the effective use of our school's available technology.

CTE Computer Science Teacher @ Modesto City Schools | USA

Amy developed a CTE Pathway in Computer Science in her school district, featuring an inclusive AI course open to students of all grades and abilities. The course examines AI's societal impact across various sectors (art, medicine, environmental justice, law enforcement) while teaching Python programming, data science fundamentals, and autonomous vehicle concepts. To support faculty AI literacy, she also created and delivered "Demystifying ChatGPT" professional development sessions to help staff.

Special Education Teacher, Chanel College | Ireland

Natalie is building AI tools with Playlab and Custom Chat GPTs to support Special Education Teachers (SETs) in planning high-quality, relevant, and engaging interventions. These tools help streamline the process of creating and accessing resources, enabling teachers to create tailored learning plans that address the diverse needs of students, particularly in post-primary settings. She has always been interested in how people study and what makes studying engaging and impactful. Natalie wants students to be curious about the world around them. Using AI, and the tools I create, they can instantly explore worlds that would otherwise be unavailable.

Founder of Lindsay Kehl Consulting and Collaborative | USA

Lindsay was a featured speaker in the International School Counselor Association Virtual Collaborative, where she led a series of three sessions for international School Counselors on using AI in their work. She believes that discussions about AI go beyond the tech department and uses for traditional teaching and learning. Her goal is to teach and empower school counselors to learn about AI and its uses for social and emotional learning and to help develop responsive, responsible world citizens.

Director/Founder @ Conduit | USA

Amy founded Conduit, an online school designed to meet the unique needs of neurodiverse students. They champion the ethical and responsible use of AI, viewing it as a powerful tool for our students' learning and growth. Their curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and ethical considerations, laying the groundwork for strong AI literacy. We also provide weekly support and guidance to parents and caregivers, helping them navigate the evolving landscape of AI in education.

System Administrator Llano ISD and Co-Founder/CEO @ AIEdPro | USA

Maurie is focused on building AI literacy and supporting responsible AI adoption in education. Through AI Education Professionals, she co-develops evidence-based tools and training that empower educators. She aims to demystify AI by offering hands-on, leveled training programs for teachers, from foundational AI concepts to advanced tools for classroom engagement. One of her key initiatives is Agnes, an AI toolbox designed for educators that provides secure access to large language models and vetted tools.

Hajiba El Meliani

Elementary School Teacher and Phd Student | Morocco

As a teacher and Ph.D. student, Hajiba believes she has the responsibility to help students understand AI and empower them to become informed.
To build AI literacy, she has taken online courses and attended many webinars related to AI in education; she also joined online communities to connect with other educators on platforms like LinkedIn to discuss AI-related topics and share best practices. She encourages students to question the limitations of AI and teaches them about responsible online behavior, including the ethical use of AI tools.

Educational Technology Director @ Pocantico Hills CSD

Alana is advancing K-12 AI literacy and responsible tech adoption. At Pocantico Hills CSD, she’s leading efforts to integrate student-facing AI into classrooms with a strong focus on bias, misinformation, and academic integrity. Beyond her district, Alana drives professional learning through her work with the New York State Association for Computers and Technology in Education  and spearheading Students for Innovation. This organization brings student voices into discussions on AI’s future. She’s also leading critical conversations about the future of AI in education through her book and podcast, The Generative Age.

Virtual K-12 Teacher @ Marshalltown Virtual Academy | USA

Paula works to build AI literacy by promoting safe, equitable access to AI for all students and encouraging teachers to develop their AI literacy and teach it in their classrooms. She supports responsible AI adoption through advocacy and leadership, ensuring that AI tools are used purposefully and equitably in education. Paula also works to foster collaboration around creating high-quality, evidence-based, generative AI tools, empowering educators and students to navigate AI’s evolving role in education effectively.

Executive Director of Technology @ Agua Fria Union High School District | USA

Lauren has championed transformative, student-centered technology initiatives that enhance educational outcomes. A pioneer in AI-driven education, Lauren led Agua Fria to become the world’s first high school district to partner with ChatGPT, setting a new standard for AI integration in classrooms. She co-launched the AI4Learning Playbook and is a core part of the AZ AI Alliance, demonstrating her dedication to innovation and equitable education access. Certified as a CETL, Lauren’s expertise is widely recognized, with years of active involvement in AzTEA, where she also served as a board member, and her work on COSN’s AI, Cybersecurity, and K12 Innovation Committees.

AI Club Coordinator for the Charter Institute @ Erskine | USA

Larisa leads an AI Literacy training course for the Charter Institute at Erskine called AI Club. They focus on training teachers, administrators, and staff. At AI Club, they meet virtually twice a month and offer asynchronous mini-lessons. They are committed to ethical, responsible AI use that fosters creativity, personalizes education, and reduces workload. This allows teachers to focus on cultivating a compassionate and collaborative learning community to harness AI to enrich social-emotional learning, promote equity, and help students be prepared for the future workforce.

Instructional Technology Facilitator in Hamilton Township School District | USA

Kaylee believes that building AI literacy in education is a collaborative endeavor. She thrives as part of a vibrant community of educators and tech professionals working to shape the future of AI in education. Through her workshops, presentations, and consultations, she empowers educators to explore the potential of AI, address ethical considerations, and develop strategies for responsible implementation. Kaylee's focus is ensuring AI serves as a powerful tool for enhancing learning and empowering educators and students.

Special Education Teacher at Lakeview Middle School in Park Hill School District | USA

Julie has provided district and building training for teachers to increase their AI literacy and encourage them to introduce students to AI. Additionally, she has consulted with multiple AI platforms on ensuring accessible, meaningful learning for all users, but especially those with disabilities. Julie has served as a panelist on several webinars regarding the ethical use of AI when working with students with disabilities, developing IEP goals, or completing educators' many other administrative tasks.

Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, Suffern Central School District | USA

Lisa has led efforts to incorporate AI into her school district. Working collaboratively with a team of teachers, students, and administrators the district created guidelines for student use and purchased tools that protect students' and staff's data privacy. Lisa and her team have linked their use of AI to their implementation of the NYS Computer Science and Digital Fluency standards. Her current focus areas include integrating AI for teachers and students and ensuring equity in access and opportunity for all students.

Director of Online Learning @ Catawba County Schools | USA

In collaboration with IT and AIG Departments and AI for Education, Terri and her team wrote and were awarded a 3-year grant from the NC Department of Public Instruction specific to Gen AI. She and her team develop and deliver AI Literacy training to educators (around 1,200 teachers, district leaders, and students. They believe AI literacy is essential for successful adoption, engagement, and meaningful implementation in an educational setting.

Becky Osterfeld

Instructional Coach at Beavercreek City Schools and Doctoral student, USA

As an instructional coach for grades 6-12, Becky provides professional development and individual assistance to teachers on what generative AI is and how it can be used ethically and creatively to support teachers and improve instruction for all students. She recently collaborated with a small group of doctoral students at the college level about GenAI in educational settings. Becky then built Marshall University's first Masters-level course for educators, exploring generative AI's uses, challenges, and benefits in PreK-higher education settings.

Director of Technology Enrichment @ St. Dominic's Priory College | Australia

Joanne has led St. Dominic's Priory College to take proactive steps to integrate AI literacy and foster responsible AI use among students and staff. Key initiatives that illustrate their commitment to a forward-thinking, ethical approach to AI adoption include the integration of AI Guidelines in the Academic Integrity Policy, the Development of a Deepfake Policy and Response Procedure, the Pilot and Adoption of Bloom AI for Year 12 Students, and Professional Learning in AI for Educators.

Elementary Coordinator @ My Virtual Academy | USA

This past summer, Jamey created AI guidelines for her school/company and updated student and parent handbooks. To build AI literacy, she is currently working to roll out an AI Literacy Initiative to train teachers and students this school year. From there, she and her team will look at a few high-quality AI tools to adopt. She continues to participate in AI professional learning networks in education as it is a great way to have meaningful conversations about AI and glean ideas.

Rocío Rilbelles

International School of Turin - IST | Italy

Rocío is a K12 teacher with 15 years of experience teaching IB curriculum. She currently holds the librarian position, curriculum expert for language acquisition and AI Lead at IST school. Rocío has developed curriculums for critical thinking and research skills and an AI curriculum for parents, teachers and students. Her master's thesis focused on introducing critical thinking in the classroom from a feminist perspective. She is an AI lead and is creating AI literacy curriculum for teachers, students, and parents

High School Social Sciences Teacher; Researcher @ The Israeli Ministry of Education | Israel

Mayan’s work focuses on advancing AI literacy through innovative approaches, including developing AI-powered tools for research support and critical thinking. She currently leads design experiments implementing AI across various educational sectors while pursuing thesis research on professional development programs' impact on teachers' AI literacy. As the founder and manager of "Artificial Intelligence in Education and Academia," a 20,000-member Facebook community, Maayan facilitates vital discussions about AI integration in educational settings, promoting responsible and effective implementation of technology in pedagogy.
