CEO Amanda Bickerstaff on Scripps News’ “Morning Rush”

AI for Education CEO Amanda Bickerstaff was invited to Scripps News’ "Morning Rush" to discuss the challenges and opportunities presented by the integration of AI in education, particularly in light of a recent lawsuit involving a high school student suspended for using AI in an assignment.

In our discussion, I emphasized how we're at a unique technological inflection point - one that's moving much faster than previous tech adaptations in education. While AI tools offer incredible opportunities for personalized learning and student support, we need thoughtful implementation:

• Schools must develop clear guidance for responsible AI use

• Students need proper training on ethical AI integration

• We should focus on teaching before punishment when navigating these new waters

The future of work will demand AI literacy. Rather than avoiding these tools, we need to prepare students to use them responsibly while maintaining their unique human capabilities and creativity.

Grateful for the opportunity and Scripp News’ balanced view and thoughtful questions.  Loved the opportunity to contribute to this important conversation about shaping the future of education.
