Create Student Exemplars with ChatGPT

In ChatGPT or your favorite AI Chatbot, cut and paste the following prompts to create your own student exemplars; just replace each bracket with the information for each rubric.

Student Exemplar Prompt

Acting as a [grade] level student, write a student exemplar for the following activity [activity description] at [proficiency] level.

Make the Prompt Work for You

  • Ask ChatGPT to add some grammatical mistakes or other issues that you want students to focus on.

  • Create a student persona (e.g., a ten year old girl that loves Fortnite) to be the “writer” of the student exemplar.

  • Cut and paste anonymized versions of past submissions to have ChatGPT create new student exemplars in the same style as your students.
