Education and the Future of Jobs Report
The World Economic Forum just released their Future of Job's Report for 2025. As we are in the process of updating our trainings with the new findings, we wanted to share the key highlights and implications for education.
General Highlights:
By 2030…
170 million new jobs will be created, with 92 million jobs lost (which is significantly higher than the 2023 and 2024 estimations)
39% of workers' core skills are expected to change
AI will transform 86% of businesses
Top Skills for 2025-2030:
Analytical thinking will remain the top core skill
AI and big data skills are the fastest-growing
Resilience, flexibility and agility are increasingly important
Creative thinking and motivation/self-awareness round out top 5 skills
Education Sector Insights:
Transformation will be driven by digital access & AI systems
There is the need for a strong focus on lifelong learning
Emphasis shifting toward skills-based assessment
73% of education providers planning to upskill their workforce
The growing importance of human skills alongside digital literacy
Training & Development:
Employers are increasingly favoring skills-based hiring over traditional credentials
University degrees remain important, but are declining in significance (43% of employers require them)
A significant emphasis on reskilling and upskilling staff to work with AI technologies
One of education's core mission is to prepare students for the workforce, which means that we need to focus on preparing young people for a rapidly evolving landscape that requires a blend of digital literacy with essential human skills like creativity, critical thinking, and adaptability.
